Liverpool may have a transfer window to remember after all, if a recent report is correct. Previous reports suggested there would be no spending.
The Independent believes that Liverpool still lead the way for Timo Werner. The club are still looking at transfer options and despite the current uncertainty, aren’t ruling anything out.
And things are uncertain, of course. The current suspension of all football makes it difficult to invest in players right now – when will they even play, after all?
However, the Reds, apparently, haven’t made any ‘concrete decisions’ when it comes to transfers.
This suggests the opposite of a recent report from the Mirror that claimed it would be a very quiet transfer window. And that appeared to corroborate a Daily Mail report from April that said Liverpool won’t make any contract negotiations.
But this latest claim from the Independent’s Melissa Reddy suggests fans may have something to look forward to after all.
What RTK has to say
You can fully understand Liverpool’s position either way. These are strange times and the football world certainly isn’t the same as it was at the start of the year.
The uncertainty makes investment tough and thus if Liverpool decided to go completely risk-free and sign no one, you can only call it a smart move.
Liverpool are thriving this season, after all – there’s little need to take any great risk right now.
But if the Reds can afford to secure a signing like Werner, then that’s quite fantastic in these times. We’ll have to wait and see, of course, but it does sound like we might get an interesting transfer window after all.
