Real Madrid hope to lead the chase for Ferran Torres, according to reports. Liverpool supposedly want the young Spaniard, too.
Tuttosport in Italy believes that Real will make a big move for Ferran. They’ll apparently rival Borussia Dortmund at the front of the queue, with the Germans holding an advantage.
That advantage lies in their current squad. Ferran would be a replacement for Jadon Sancho, who may leave the club. Real don’t have an obvious place in the squad like that, however, and would need to move Gareth Bale on to make one.
So while Real hope to get in front for the player, they’ll struggle to move Dortmund while that’s the case. Not that they’re the only two supposedly in the running.
What RTK has to say
Real’s problem is a very real one for Liverpool as well. Ferran will want a first-team place – or at least, a regular one – and the Reds can’t offer that, either.
The Spaniard is a right-winger, meaning he’d battle with Mohamed Salah for that slot. But that’s not a battle he’s likely to win any time soon.
Ferran would be a very good signing for Liverpool but firmly one for the future. Dortmund will offer him a great role immediately if Sancho leaves, and the Reds can’t compete with that.
It’s unfortunate but this one looks increasingly difficult.
