Sadio Mane wants international teammate Ousseynou Ba at Liverpool, according to reports. The Reds are open to a move, too.

Senegalese paper Le Quotidien believes that Liverpool have an interest in Ba and that he’d cost around £18m. The reason for that interest is apparently Mane, too. He ‘fell in love’ with his 6ft 4″ compatriot after seeing him against Olympiakos and things grew from there.

Greek outlet Sportime claims that Mane recommended Ba to Liverpool. The Olympiakos defender will be on the move anyway, apparently, with representatives actively looking to shift him to England.

What RTK has to say

Ba certainly ticks some boxes. He’s a great age at 24, so should be reliable to start some games but with plenty of time to develop further. Coming from Olympiakos, too, means he’s assumably more open to a squad role than if Liverpool signed a big-name player.

And for £18m? Not quite a steal but a very good price for a squad player. Ba would be behind at least Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez – probably Joel Matip, too.

Reports link Dejan Lovren with a move away, leaving space for a player like Ba. £18m is probably what you’d expect to fill that gap to a reasonable level, anyway, especially for a player with the potential to grow.

So this one does seem to make sense from a Liverpool point of view. If and when the transfer window does open, we wouldn’t be shocked to see them make a move.
