Liverpool are in the mix for Alexander Sorloth, according to reports. They’re not the only ones, however, as potential suitors line up.

Sorloth is in an interesting position. The 24-year-old is currently at Trabzonspor, topping the Super Lig and leading the way as top scorer on 19 goals. He’s only on loan there, however, after a disappointing spell with Crystal Palace.

Trabzonspor can reportedly sign him for just £6m, though, as part of the loan deal. From there, they hope to move on their top scorer for £22m – easy profit, really.

That’s all according to FootMercato, who believe Trabzonspor are ‘rubbing their hands’ in anticipation.

Turkish outlet Fanatik says that Liverpool are one of those looking at paying the £22m. They’re hardly alone, though – Fanatik mention half of Europe as interested.

What RTK has to say

It looks as though anyone who wants Sorloth will have to fight for him, even Liverpool. He’s scoring for fun – with another six assists for good measure – and that will naturally attract suitors.

As for whether Liverpool could use him, we think he’d be an interesting option. Sorloth is a very tall, prolific striker – something the squad lacks at the moment.

He’d be a very different weapon in Jurgen Klopp’s arsenal and the only real question is whether he’d want the move. Sorloth would certainly be a squad option, really, and he’ll almost certainly want more than that.

You don’t typically score 20+ goals in a title-winning season to move on for a bench role. So while he’s certainly an interesting player, it just doesn’t seem like the right fit.
