Juventus are now in the chase for Ferran Torres, according to reports. Previous claims have Liverpool looking at the Spaniard, too.

Tuttosport claim that Juventus want Ferran and could pay as much as £53m for the youngster. This comes about a week after reports in the UK suggested that Liverpool, too, want the winger.

And why wouldn’t they? Ferran is a very exciting prospect on the right for Valencia. The 20-year-old has six goals and six assists in his first season as a regular and every top side would bank on getting even more from him.

The situation, however, isn’t clear-cut. Ferran has a £90m release clause (per Sport), for one thing, which complicates matters and drives his price up.

But on the other side of things, his contract expires in 2021. That makes things very tough for Valencia, who know they’ve only got a short time to profit from a very valuable asset.

Tuttosport believe £53m will do it, though. That’s a fee that both Juventus and Liverpool can afford to pay. This one might come down to who can convince the player, then.

What RTK has to say

Ferran is a very talented young player and is definitely available. There aren’t too many of those around.

Thus, Liverpool know full well that they won’t be alone in this chase. Juventus are a difficult club to beat, of course – they’re rich and incredibly successful – but the Reds can fancy their chances of winning.

For one thing, virtually every player who passes through the door at Anfield enhances his reputation and improves as a player. For a 20-year-old, that’s got to be tempting. That’s not always the case with Juventus – just look at Emre Can, for instance.

And so that reputation can definitely boost Liverpool’s chances. For a player as talented as Ferran, it could make all the difference.
