The football has been gone for what feels like eternity. The Reds last graced our screens a million years ago in their Champions League defeat against Atletico Madrid. Fans the world over have been gasping for the return of the Premier League, according to The Independent, they have government backing to resume over the summer.
The global health crisis has completely changed our society as dramatically as it has rapidly.
Just a few months ago nobody could have imagined that come the end of March, Liverpool’s title coronation would be in doubt.
There have been varied voices clamouring for different solutions to the Premier League issue. Selfish shouts (from the likes of K*rren Brady) of declaring the campaign ‘null and void’ appear to have lost out to more rational, level headed thinking.
The league recently announced that the campaign would be ‘extended indefinitely’ in order to ensure its completion come hell or high water.
The question is simply: when?
According to The Independent the Premier League are drawing up plans to complete the season at neutral venues in the Midlands and London throughout June and July, using World Cup style, quarantined camps.
Apparently the Premier League have great government backing for the idea as the powers that be would see it as a morale boost and distraction for the nation.
What RTK has to say
This is obviously great news for Liverpool.
The sooner that this league is resumed the better, if we can just get those two wins in the bank then we know it’s done and dusted.
The longer that this postponement drags on, the louder the dissenting ‘null and void’ voices will become.
