Reports claim that at least four Premier League clubs are hoping to sign Dejan Lovren this summer.
TEAMtalk believes that several clubs target Lovren – and not just from the Premier League. They claim that clubs from Spain, Germany, Italy and France have already made approaches for the Croatian.
They don’t name names when it comes to the continent but they do suggest four Premier League clubs want Lovren. Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Crystal Palace, and West Ham United will all apparently move for the player.
Liverpool will apparently sign a replacement player but for now, they’re happy to let Lovren leave the club. And it appears that he’ll move to the capital, despite all of the interest from Europe.
What RTK has to say
Lovren is a clear fourth-choice at Anfield now. Joel Matip and Joe Gomez have hit heights that their teammate never really has, while Virgil van Dijk is immovable as first-choice.
Thus it seems best for everyone that the player moves on, six years after his £20m arrival from Southampton.
And it doesn’t really matter if the player moves to another Premier League club – even a ‘top six’ rival, like Spurs or Arsenal. He’s fourth-choice, after all, and Liverpool clearly don’t see him as an elite player.
That’s not to say that Lovren isn’t capable of playing at the very top. We’ve seen him put in some wonderful performances and he was arguably the team’s best player in the 2018 Champions League final.
Inconsistencies, however, limit him badly. So for the club, it’s simply best that they get as much money for him as possible. That will surely come from the Premier League.
