This summer we are expecting fireworks at Anfield. The Reds will be hard at work looking to solidify their position as the team to beat in world football. Following a record breaking Premier League campaign, it’s all about consolidation. According to reports in Spain, Liverpool could be plotting a move for Vinicius Jr of Real Madrid.
Madrid signed Vinicius in 2018, paying £38.7m for the then 18-year-old forward.
The 19-year-old has impressed in the Spanish capital this season, he’s bagged a goal and an assist in the Champions League as well as two goals and an assist in La Liga.
He has been deployed mainly on the left wing by Zinedine Zidane and is widely regarded as one of the most exciting young players in the world.
According to Diario Madridista, Liverpool are looking into the possibility of signing Vinicius Jr over the summer.
The report claims that Jürgen Klopp wanted to buy him last summer but the deal never came to fruition.
What RTK has to say
We aren’t completely sold on this one.
Would we take him? Of course, he is sure to be one of the best wingers of the next decade.
However, it is unlikely that Real Madrid would be willing to part for him for anything less than a king’s ransom
They don’t really need the money and they wouldn’t want to strengthen one of their rivals for European glory.
We can dream, though. Fingers crossed this story does have legs, it would be a massive statement of intent by the Reds.
