Real Madrid see a potential availability for Kylian Mbappe and Liverpool need to take note.

According to Marca, Real believe the ‘door is open’ for Mbappe in 2021. They don’t see him signing a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain, and so that’s when they’ll try their luck.

Mbappe is Real’s ‘dream signing’, apparently, and the big move they hope to make in a year’s time. It would be ‘impossible’ to get him this summer, the outlet says.

What RTK has to say

Take note, Liverpool. If that door is open to Real next summer, the Reds need to get their foot in there before it shuts. And if Real are the ones to shut it, it may never open again.

Mbappe isn’t just Real’s dream signing – he’s the dream signing for everyone. Few players share his record and absolutely none at his age – it’s easy to forget that the Frenchman is still only 21.

Funnily enough, Marca’s report is built around the idea that Real want the only other forward who looks like hitting Mbappe’s level – Erling Haaland.

That could work in Liverpool’s favour. Mbappe might just think twice about joining a club if they’ve just bought the only other player on the planet capable of rivalling him.

Both play the same position, after all, and are roughly the same age. We could see the duo battle for supremacy over the next decade – thus you can’t imagine they’ll be at the same club.

Liverpool, however, can offer a wonderfully successful team with a clear place. Anfield’s next generation will soon take shape and Mbappe’s role in the side would be assured.

The current crop won’t stand in his way – age wouldn’t allow it.

So if Real are right and Mbappe is available next summer, Liverpool must prepare themselves for an assault. Mbappe is the ultimate talent right now and Liverpool happen to be at the top of the game.

This is an opportunity they can’t afford to miss. It may never come along again.
