Liverpool hope to make as much as £72m from three squad player sales, according to reports. It would presumably leave a large budget for the transfer window.

We’re putting together two reports here. The first, from the Express last week, claims that the Reds want £55m from selling Harry Wilson and Marko Grujic.

Harry Wilson has played quite well for Bournemouth.

Wilson is currently on loan at Bournemouth, of course, and will return at the end of the season. The Welshman has had a pretty decent debut Premier League campaign and Liverpool hope to get £30m for him as a result.

Then there’s Grujic, who’s currently at Hertha Berlin in a second consecutive loan there. The Express report says Liverpool value the Serbian at £25m and will look to sell.

The second report came from Turkish outlet Fotomac this week. They believe Galatasary will move for Xherdan Shaqiri in the transfer window and plan to meet Liverpool’s £18m asking price.

What RTK has to say

Put together, that means Liverpool plan to make £72m from three player sales. Not just any player sales, either, but three players they’ve barely used.

Shaqiri has only featured seven times this season, with five appearances coming from the bench. Wilson has only ever featured in one senior game for Liverpool. Grujic has managed 14.

It makes it ‘free’ money, to an extent, as Liverpool wouldn’t really lose anything for it. They’re not using any of the trio and are still arguably the world’s best team.

If these reports are correct and they do get £72m for the players, it would be remarkably good business.
