Eduardo Camavinga has reportedly told Rennes to wait for Real Madrid. It would be a blow to Liverpool, who supposedly want the midfielder.
But the Reds aren’t the only ones who want him, apparently. Sport said in the same report that Barcelona and Real Madrid have interest, for one thing.
And now a new report from ABC in Spain makes things look tough for Liverpool. They claim that Camavinga desperately wants a move to Real and has told Rennes to wait for an offer.
The reason? Zinedine Zidane. Camavinga wants to play for him, apparently and hopes Real will offer the £47m Rennes supposedly want.
It’s a difficult one for Liverpool. They can’t easily change the teenager’s mind on that one – Zidane is a France legend and a very successful manager.
Real have also made a habit of bringing in elite teenagers over recent years. Camavinga can easily see a bright future there, alongside the likes of Vinicius Jr. and Rodryo Goes.
Thus if Real do want him, they’ll almost certainly get him if no one else can convince Camavinga otherwise.
Liverpool do have a chance, of course. They’ve proven an ability to develop players, as well as experiencing remarkable recent success.
As things stand, however, it looks as though they’ll struggle to get this one over the line. The ball is firmly in Real’s court.
