Aubameyang, 30, is set to enter the final 12 months of his current Arsenal contract and there are concerns that Gabonese talisman could look to run his contract down similarly to Aaron Ramsey who left the Gunners on a free transfer, moving to Juventus last season.

The Arsenal skipper has been in scintillating form once again this campaign and has clocked up and impressive 20 goals in 32 appearances this season. The reports claim that the north-Londoners would be reluctant to sell Aubameyang for another Premier League side.

90Min have also linked Chelsea with an active interest with the Arsenal man while Manchester United also remain keen. Barcelona are the current front-runners, however to land Aubameyang’s signature.

What RTK has to say

Liverpool have the rare opportunity to get one over Arsenal following the Luis Suarez controversy that unfolded in 2013.

Raphinha, Coutinho and Tielemans: The signings Liverpool could make this summer

Arsenal lack Champions League football and Aubameyang is in the peak years of his career and will be desperate to have his shot at the top.

Similarly, with Barcelona as well as Liverpool, Aubameyang will not have the guarantee of being the first-choice striker at the club and will be at risk of playing second-fiddle which is not in the striker’s best interest.

Aubameyang’s relationship with Jurgen Klopp, however, does present Liverpool with the advantage with the German manager introducing the striker onto the European scene during the duo’s time with Dortmund.
