The football has been suspended and it is very weird. The global health crisis has caused a suspension of all major sporting events across many countries in the world. Football in the UK has been postponed until early April but that date of resumption is looking less likely by the day. UEFA today announced that Euro 2020 will be postponed a year, it is great news for Liverpool.
The global health panic has caused governments and sporting bodies across the global to ban mass gatherings in the interest of not spreading the virus further as well as not distracting emergency services from essential duties.
With the season suspended there has been debate as to whether or not Liverpool would be crowned Premier League champions.
There had been competing theories being bandied about with some going so far as to claim that the season should be declared null and void.
UEFA today announced (h/t Sky Sports) that Euro 2020 will be postponed until 2021 in order to help domestic leagues to complete their seasons.
This means that when it is safe there will be opportunity for the Premier League to resume during the months that were being taken up by Euro 2020.
With the league given time to play out its fixture list, Liverpool are likely to be crowned Premier League champions, providing that the emergency subsides in time for it to be safe for the remaining games to be played.
This will come as a massive relief to many Kopites around the world who are desperate for that first title in 30 years.
