The Premier League has been suspended. The competition is scheduled to resume in April but the likelihood of that is looking less and less likely by the day. There have been a number of possible solutions bandied about, one of them would see a 22 club Premier League next season – this solution would suit Liverpool.

With football in the UK suspended until the start of April at the earliest, talks are being held with regards to what happens if the competition can’t resume.
It is a very real possibility that there will be no time to play out the remaining fixtures of the season, if this is the case then decisions have to be made as to who wins what, who goes up and who goes down.
It would be cruel to relegate any team mathematically capable of staying up, it would be equally as cruel to tell fans of the likes of Leeds United that they must battle it out in the Championship for one more season – the Yorkshire club have fought for years to rejoin the top flight.
With a place in the Premier League worth hundreds of millions one of the proposals being considered, as reported in the Daily Mail, is a 22 club Premier League.
This solution would suit Liverpool. Jürgen Klopp boasts arguably the physically fittest side in the division. The Reds have become known as one of the most intense sides on the planet.
The extra fitness levels of the Liverpool squad would mean these added games play into their hands. Other clubs would find themselves fatigued and dropping points, whilst Jürgen Klopp’s machine would keep steamrolling on.
The festive fixture schedule showed that Liverpool cope well with a busy calendar, a 22 club Premier League would suit this trait.
