This Wednesday night Liverpool host Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. The Reds head into the game knowing they need to score once to keep the tie alive and twice to progress in normal time. Speaking to Marca ahead of the fixture, Saul has admitted that Atletico Madrid are worried about a repeat of their Juventus collapse last season.
The first leg of this tie saw Diego Simeone’s men pull a goal ahead at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Saul poked home from close range early on after a fortunate series of events for the hosts – they shouldn’t have had a corner in the first place and the ball fell to Saul after a lucky deflection off Fabinho.
The hosts then put on a defensive masterclass, as well as an acting masterclass. The Madrid side dug in deep and refused to let The Reds pass, they also leapt to the floor and conned the referee at every opportunity.
The Reds will take heart from the fact that Atletico threw away a lead at this stage last season. The Madrid club were 2-0 up heading into the second leg at Juventus but a Cristiano Ronaldo hattrick saw them eliminated.

Saul is still reeling from the Atletico Madrid loss against Juventus, he told Marca:
“We have to learn from Turin so that it doesn’t happen again. It wasn’t us at any time. We know that if we are aggressive then we can compete against Liverpool.
“We won’t feel comfortable there. Anything can happen but we can’t forget who we are.”
What RTK has to say
If there is any place you don’t want to go in Europe when you have to hold onto a lead, it’s Anfield.
Liverpool know how to mount a comeback, they’ll be doing just that on Wednesday night.
Jürgen Klopp will be determined to maintain his record of never losing a two legged knockout tie whilst at Liverpool, we have every faith in the gaffer.
