This week Liverpool face Atletico Madrid with The Reds needing to score twice to win it in 90 minutes. Following a controversial and disappointing first leg defeat, Jürgen Klopp’s men have it all to do. Thankfully, the latest Atletico Madrid result is great news for Liverpool.

At the weekend Atletico hosted Sevilla with the Madrid side not needing to drop any more points in the race for the top four.
Diego Simeone’s men went 2-1 up before being pegged back by the visitors and settling for a 2-2 draw.
This result leaves The Reds’ opponents in fifth, a point off fourth place with Real Sociedad able to leapfrog them with their game in hand.
Heading into Wednesday night, this Atletico Madrid result is massively encouraging for Liverpool.
Firstly, this shows that the Madrid side can concede, they can concede twice and to a lesser side than The Reds.
With Liverpool needing to score at least once, seeing Diego Simeone’s men letting two in will have them smelling blood.
Furthermore, the Madrid side let go of a lead. They head into this Wednesday’s tie with a goal advantage, they held a goal advantage on Saturday but weren’t able to hold on to it.
Their result also means that they need to make a decision soon as to where their priorities lie. Atletico put out a full strength side at the weekend and fell behind in the race for Europe – they’ll need to decide on a priority.
We know that Anfield is able to produce some magical European nights, with Atletico heading in to the game having squandered a lead and The Reds heading in baying for blood, this should be a long night for Simeone.
