This weekend Liverpool got back on track with a win that took them to within three victories of the Premier League title. Jürgen Klopp’s men brushed Eddie Howe’s team aside at Anfield despite an early setback. Twitter has reacted to Joe Gomez being pushed in the run up to the Bournemouth opener.
The Reds needed a win on Saturday.
Following three defeats in four games, Liverpool needed a show of strength going into their Champions League second leg tie with Atletico Madrid in the week.
Things didn’t start well at Anfield. Joe Gomez was pushed by Callum Wilson and Bournemouth scored the opener moments later.
Jürgen Klopp was incandescent on the touchline, unable to understand why the goal was allowed to stand after video review.
It would have been a soft foul but a foul nonetheless, we just want consistency in refereeing – this was a foul last week and it will be a foul next week.
Twitter has reacted to the Joe Gomez being pushed in the build up to the Bournemouth goal.
One Kopite pointed out that those backing the referee’s decision would be the same ones moaning if it had gone in our favour.
Gonna put the “It wasn’t a foul on Joe Gomez” argument to bed — If that was an opposition player and a Liverpool player had pushed the opposing player like Wilson did to Gomez and VAR/the referee didn’t give the foul, would you be happy? No, you’d all cry “LiVARpool” 🤦🏻♂️

Whilst another Red made the point that if you go to ground you are more likely to win the free kick, sad but true.
Gomez need to learn from today’s mistake.. Next time u get pushed.. Just fall #LIVBOU

This supporter was emphatic in saying that not even VAR can stop us marching on.
Loooool, Callum Wilson pushed Gomez all the way to Tesco, and the officials and VAR ‘didn’t see it’ 😂😂😂 nobody wants us to win, but they can’t stop us winning 💪🏻🔴

Even some Manchester United fans were sympathetic to the Reds.
Just seen the Liverpool highlights – that’s a foul all day on Gomez btw he’s just pushed him in the back 😂 How’s VAR not clocked that one

This supporter put it best, we are the mentality monsters, the lads keep pushing on.
Eh remember when Gomez got pushed in the back, Bournemouth scored from it, VAR said nah that’s sound, we went 1-0 down but didn’t moan about it and went onto to win, which left us 3 wins from a title after a 30 year wait?
