One Alisson Becker stat to reassure Liverpool fans after Chelsea defeat

This Tuesday night Liverpool fell to a 2-0 defeat at Chelsea, making it their third loss in their last four games – though this is nothing to worry about. One Alisson Becker stat should reassure Kopites after the Chelsea loss.

It is never nice losing to Chelsea.

The West London side are an age old enemy of not just Liverpool FC but Liverpool as a city, with neighbourhood rivals Everton also detesting the Blues. Even the wools over at Prenton Park can’t stand them.

Jürgen Klopp’s side were thoroughly beaten by their London rivals.

Goals from Willian and Ross Barkley sealed the win over a much rotated Liverpool side.

It is important to note that both goals were scored from outside of the box.

One key stat about Alisson Becker should soothe Kopites’ worries as a result: our Brazilian keeper has only ever conceded one goal from outside of the box in the Premier League.

The shot stopper has saved 97.8% of the 46 shots on target he has faced from range.

We can therefore deduct that had Alisson been between the sticks then the hosts wouldn’t have been as likely to have scored those two goals.

The opening Chelsea goal in particular was a howler from Adrian. The second goal has seen Joe Gomez criticised for not closing down, however, it is important to remember that he is likely forcing Barkley to shoot as he typically trusts Alisson to save those efforts.

When we are back to our regular back five we can expect these defensive leakages to be put to a halt, this is no disaster and merely another game to show just how important Alisson Becker is to the side.
