Tonight Liverpool were thoroughly beaten by Chelsea. A heavily rotated Reds side were poor and disjointed, they never threatened the hosts despite having strong periods of possession. Here are our Liverpool player ratings v Chelsea:

Goalkeeper: Adrian – 4
The Spaniard made a huge error immediately after a strong save, despite some smart stops his mistake was just so poor.
Right back: Neco Williams – 6
The Welshman had a tough time but held his own. He wasn’t scared to get forward and was always in the right places.
Centre back: Joe Gomez – 5
Someone needed to close Ross Barkley, we can’t let him score against us.
Centre back: Virgil van Dijk – 5
Big Virg had a very poor game, it’s not often that we see the Dutchman regularly beaten in the air but he was bested too often this evening.
Left back: Andy Robertson 6
Robbo can’t be faulted for his work rate and his crossing was on point, the forwards just weren’t at the races.
Defensive midfield: Fabinho – 4
The Brazilian just wasn’t good enough defensively, he should have thrown himself about more and been more aggressive in the tackle.
Centre midfield: Adam Lallana – 5.5
The Englishman played out of his skin but not enough came off.
Centre midfield: Curtis Jones – 6
The Scouser had some really bright moments, showing great control and an eagerness to get on the ball – the situation dictated his substitution.
Right wing: Takumi Minamino – 5
The January signing just wasn’t good enough but neither was Fabinho when he first arrived.
Left wing: Sadio Mane – 5
Sadio didn’t take his chances, he was far too hesitant when one on one in the first half.
Striker: Divock Origi – 5
Big Div was largely ineffective despite being given a big chance by the gaffer tonight.
