This weekend saw Liverpool’s shot at going invincible disappear as Jürgen Klopp’s side fell to a heavy 3-0 defeat at Vicarage Road. Andy Robertson has apologised to the fans after the Watford result.
Heading into the match on Saturday, Liverpool had gone 44 games unbeaten in the Premier League.
Victory over Watford would have seen The Reds break the all time consecutive win record for the division.
However, it wasn’t meant to be. Ismaila Sarr put two past Alisson Becker before Troy Deeney added a third to make sure of the three points for the hosts.
It was heartbreaking for Liverpool fans but Kopites around the world seem to have taken it on the chin and are already having a good laugh about it.
Speaking to the official club site, Andy Robertson addressed the fans following the Watford defeat, saying:
“It’s a performance that has not been expected for a number of years by the fans and we can only apologise for this performance. It’s up to us to bounce back.
“Up to this point it has still been a fantastic season but today we weren’t at the races, we weren’t the Liverpool that everyone has watched.”
What RTK has to say
My heart breaks. Robbo, please don’t apologise.
The Reds had an awful day at the office but they had dozens and dozens of great days before that. This Liverpool side have treated us to the best season the English top flight has ever seen.
To see Robbo saying sorry for one slip up is heartbreaking, he is one of many players that have earned themselves a lot of leeway with the supporters.
The left back has built up a lot of credit on the Kop, this will boost his reputation even further.
