Troy Deeney joke about Liverpool epitomises Reds' dominance

Liverpool have blown away the Premier League this season. Jürgen Klopp’s men have swept aside all before them in a record shattering campaign which looks set to see the earliest title win in history. Troy Deeney has joked about facing Liverpool next week, emphasising the Reds’ dominance.

This weekend saw Watford fall to a 3-0 defeat at Old Trafford.

The Hornets were frankly battered by Manchester United with Bruno Fernandes, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood all on the score sheet.

Nigel Pearson was installed as Watford’s third manager of the season in December, tasked with keeping the North of London side in the Premier League.

As it stands they are a point from safety but with 11 games remaining they will be hoping to pull through.

Unfortunately for Pearson’s side, their defeat to Manchester United is followed by a visit from the league leaders.

Raphinha, Coutinho and Tielemans: The signings Liverpool could make this summer

Speaking after their loss in Manchester, Troy Deeney told Match of the Day 2:

“We’ll take it on the chin, move forward and we’ve got a nice easy one against Liverpool next week.”

The cheeky grin the striker gave as he ended the interview sums it up: they haven’t got a prayer.

Whilst his side fought valiantly at Anfield in December, they caught The Reds in the midst of their ridiculous winter schedule.

With Jürgen Klopp’s men visiting having had more of a rest than the three days they were afforded last time out (if we include travelling), we can expect the visitors to be much more emphatic in their destruction of Watford.

Pearson’s side can’t afford to sit back and be picked off, they’ll have to come out and gamble, they’ll be walking into a trap though given how deadly Liverpool are on the counter.
