Goalkeeper: Alisson Becker – 7

Unable to stop the first goal, the keeper still had a solid game with his distribution as immediate as ever.

Right back: Trent Alexander-Arnold – 6

Trent has had better games, his crossing in the first half left a lot to be desired.

Centre back: Joe Gomez – 7

Unfairly picked on by the referee for a number of innocuous challenges, JoGo had a solid game.

Centre back: Virgil van Dijk – 7

Maybe one shaky moment but apart from that Big Virg was imperious as ever.

Left back: Andy Robertson – 8

Robbo was swinging up and down the left flank like a pendulum, you can never fault his work rate – he was also steely as anything in defence.

Defensive midfield: Fabinho – 6

Without much to do defensively the Brazilian recycled possession but didn’t provide a spark.

Centre midfield: Jordan Henderson – 6

The skipper moved the ball about the park without a threat for the most part, we expected more of him creatively but he worked as hard as ever.

Centre midfield: Gini Wijnaldum – 6

Tenacious as ever out of possession and reliable as ever on the ball but he didn’t create enough.

Right wing: Mo Salah – 6.5

The Egyptian King tried and tried and tried again but he couldn’t make a meaningful impact.

Left wing: Sadio Mane – 6

Sadio should be given a free elbow at any Atletico player given the amount of free kicks the ref gave them for simulating such an incident.

Striker: Bobby Firmino – 6

We just needed more, Atletico are a tough side to break down, we needed a sprinkle more magic.

Sub: Divock Origi – 5

Div was a major disappointment, he came on at half time and lost the ball far too regularly.
