Liverpool signing Timo Werner is a rumour likely to drag on and on until somebody finally buys the striker.
The Reds have yet again been linked with the forward with SportBild in Germany (via Sport Witness) insisting that Anfield is the ‘ideal’ destination for the forward.
The paper claim that Liverpool ‘are serious’ about their pursuit of Timo Werner and that they are in pole position despite the German striker’s favourite Premier League club being Manchester United.
Bild also claim that contact was made in January with talks being held of a deal wherein he would be loaned back for the remainder season.
Despite such a deal not materialising communication between Michael Edwards and RB Leipzig’s Oliver Mintzlaff is thought to be ‘good’.
What RTK has to say
Just buy him already.
Timo Werner is the perfect addition to the Liverpool front line. He gets goals, he is versatile and he has pace to burn.
Of course, the main concern for the player is where would he fit in?
With him being the main man at RB Leipzig and being wanted by a host of different clubs, would he want to move to Liverpool to find himself on the bench at least some of the time?
Fingers crossed he forces a move to Liverpool as he would, as Bild have pointed out, fit Jürgen Klopp’s style perfectly.
RB Leipzig also play a relatively direct game with a high press out of possession, the transition to Anfield would be seamless in comparison to other potential destinations.
