This Liverpool side are trouncing any side before them. The Reds are 22 points clear at the top of the table and could be set to extend that lead to 25 points before Manchester City play again. As a recent Sky Sports poll predicted, Jürgen Klopp should win the Manager of the Year award but Chris Wilder should be a close second.
The German gaffer has masterminded his side into runaway leaders at the top of the table.
The boss has only dropped two points so far this campaign: a controversial 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.
With Liverpool set to secure the Premier League title in record time there is no doubt that Klopp will be named Manager of the Year.
A recent Sky Sports poll saw Klopp taking the award with 57% of the vote to Chris Wilder’s 43%.
Whilst some Liverpool fans were left bemused by the narrow margin, it is deserved.
Klopp will certainly take home the award but it is definitely not as straightforward a matter as the Premier League title.
Chris Wilder has done terrific things with Sheffield United. The local hero is in a strong position to secure European football for The Blades, a gobsmacking achievement given that they were playing in the Championship last season.
Sheffield United have become incredibly hard to beat, they’ve pulled off some upsets throughout the season – though Liverpool did do the double over them.
It would be doing Chris Wilder a disservice if Kopites were to dismiss him from the Manager of the Year conversation, sure Klopp will win it but we need to give credit where it’s due: Wilder is a close second.
