This Liverpool team is a tough one to improve. The Reds have swept aside all before them this season, opening up a 22 point lead at the top of the table along the way. With The Independent reporting that The Reds are wanting to add ‘variety’ to their roster we can expect some summer signings to be made. We feel that Liverpool should steer clear of Ousmane Dembele of Barcelona.
In August 2017 Barcelona signed then 20-year-old Dembele from Borussia Dortmund for £135.5m.
The Frenchman has failed to live up to expectations at the Camp Nou with injuries hampering his Catalan career.
In total the wonderkid has missed 63 games for Barcelona due to injury.
The youngster has now been ruled out for the season having torn his hamstring, he had only just returned to training following an absence since November.
The Star have reported that the club are running out of patience for the winger and are prepared to cut their losses and let him go over the summer, with the paper claiming that Liverpool are interested.
Liverpool signing Ousmane Dembele would be a massive mistake.
Firstly, his injury record makes for discouraging reading – given the physically demanding nature of Jürgen Klopp’s football this should send alarm bells ringing.
Secondly, he will command a massive fee. Barcelona will be looking to recoup as much of their £135.5m investment as they can.
With Michael Edwards wanting to squeeze value out of every potential transfer signing an expensive injury risk just doesn’t make sense for the club. Liverpool should avoid Ousmane Dembele like the plague.
