Liverpool have perfected Jürgen Klopp’s system. The Reds have become a well oiled machine in which each cog knows which way it has to turn and when. Our number nine has carved out his own unique role with such success that Kaka has proclaimed Roberto Firmino to be the joint best striker in the world.
Firmino joined Liverpool in June 2015 in a £29m deal.
The Brazilian arrived from Hoffenheim as an attacking midfielder with an eye for goal.
Under Jürgen Klopp’s tutelage we have seen Bobby transformed into a unique central striker, operating as an aggressive false nine.
Firmino is often found coming deep for the ball to link up the play, opening up space for Mo Salah and Sadio Mane, however, he has also showcased his poaching skills throughout his time at the club.
Speaking to Sky Sports10, Kaka lavished praise on Roberto Firmino, saying:
“Firmino and [Luis] Suarez are the best strikers in the world.
“Firmino understands his place on the field and changes his position. He doesn’t stay in the box the whole time, he comes and gets the ball and creates the plays.”
What RTK has to say
It is always heartwarming to see our fan favourites appreciated by the greats of the game.
Kaka won the Ballon d’Or back in 2007 so his words carry a lot of weight, particularly when talking about attackers.
Firmino truly has carved out his own role and his Brazilian predecessor is right to pick up on his attacking intelligence – our number nine is untrackable at times.
