"Brilliant again", "Generational": Liverpool fans drooling over Curtis Jones

Last night saw Liverpool progress to the fifth round of the FA Cup, where they will face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The Reds fielded their youngest team ever for the tie with Shrewsbury Town; Liverpool fans have been drooling over the performance of Curtis Jones.

In a game more exciting than the 1-0 score line would suggest, it was an own goal that separated the sides.

The U23 side (more like an U19 side) dominated the game with 58% possession and a whopping 14 corners.

Truth be told, the visitors barely had a sniff despite their obvious advantages of experience and physicality.

Liverpool fans were once again enamoured with the 19-year-old Curtis Jones.

The Scouser became the youngest ever first team captain for the club and he didn’t shy away from the responsibility.

Yet again he showed why there is such excitement surrounding him, he pulled out a rabona cross and megged a defender with a clever turn. He drove at the defence and skipped around his opposition.

This Kopite hailed the teenager for pulling all the strings throughout the game.

One supporter feels he underestimated the lad given how impressive he was last night.

A popular fan account described him as “generational”.

He was that good that people are worried about signing Kai Havertz, just give Jonesy the game time.

He has obviously drawn comparisons to Trent Alexander-Arnold given their local hero status.

But of course, how heartbreaking that he beat Trent to the captaincy…
