The Reds have been dominant in the transfer market in recent seasons. Michael Edwards has carefully navigated the market, using his transfer budget effectively. The sale of Philippe Coutinho was one of Edwards’ masterstrokes. According to reports in Spain, Liverpool have turned down the chance to re-sign Philippe Coutinho.

The Reds sold Coutinho to Barcelona in January 2018, with the Catalan giants paying £142m for the Brazilian playmaker.
Since moving to Catalonia his career has nosedived. Coutinho made 22 starts in the league in the 2018/19 season but registered just two assists.
A loan move to Bayern Munich hasn’t worked out either, the Daily Mail have reported that the Bavarian giants won’t be taking up the option to make the move permanent.
According to El Desmarque in Spain, Liverpool have been offered the chance to re-sign Philippe Coutinho for €108m but Jürgen Klopp laughed off the suggestion.
What RTK has to say
Jog on, Phil.
Whilst Coutinho is an outstanding talent and it is sad to see his talent going to waste, his failures after leaving Anfield will serve as a warning to other players that want to use Liverpool as a stepping stone.
Bringing him back to The Reds would have its merits, we have never replaced his goals from midfield.
However, if we were to re-sign the Brazilian it would be a sign of weakness, we need to make sure that players in the future know that we won’t take you back when you’ve gotten too big for your boots.
There is also the issue of money, €108m is far too much for a player that has nose dived in the last few years.
We have identified bargain buys in recent seasons, paying over €100m for a player that forced a move out of the club would be a massive break from our policy.
