Jurgen Klopp can judge quartet differently vs Shrewsbury Town

Jurgen Klopp has a prime opportunity to judge an exciting quarter of young players against Shrewsbury Town.

The Daily Mail reports that Curtis Jones, Neco Williams, Yasser Larouci and Harvey Elliott will all play on Sunday. It’s hardly too surprising, given their fantastic efforts in the last round.

All played well against Everton in what was an understandably difficult game. They’re only teenagers, after all, but looked excellent against Premier League opposition in a fierce game.

Jones stood out, obviously, scoring a sensational winner.

But that was a unique game. It was something unlike anything those kids will face again and in that sense, a difficult one in which to judge them by.

How often do you play a Merseyside Derby? How often do you play one where you’re not favourites and in a team of kids?

They played brilliantly and all earned serious credit, of course. But Klopp will hope to see something different against Shrewsbury.

Harvey Elliott has impressed every time hes played.

For this game, that exciting quartet will likely take the field with some first-teamers. That’s according to the Guardian, anyway, who say Dejan Lovren, Joel Matip and Fabinho will play.

Now it’s a different game for the kids. They’ll have some serious support, especially the two fullbacks.

Yasser Larouci will apparently have another chance to impress.

They’ll be playing as strong favourites, in a game with senior players. If they can impress again, then Klopp will have a much better idea of how ‘Liverpool ready’ they are.

He knows they can shine against Premier League opposition but can they help control a game and handle that pressure? Prove they can and we may see a lot more of them this season.
