Adama Traore may have had his Liverpool audition on Thursday. The winger passed with flying colours if that were the case.
Traore played brilliantly at Molineux. The winger looked threatening from the first minute, beating whoever Liverpool put up against him.
And these are quality defenders, after all, who make up the Premier League’s best defence. And yet, Traore just kept getting past them, making it look easy at time.
He was the biggest threat on the pitch in the second half. First he created Wolves’ goal with a great burst of pace and a pinpoint cross. But he threatened consistently after that, too, almost single-handedly keeping Liverpool on the back foot.
90min claimed recently that Liverpool want Traore, a player Wolves supposedly value at £70m. The winger is someone we believe suits Liverpool ideally as he’s the type of player they have so much success with.
If that interest is truly genuine, it made Thursday something of an audition for Traore. Could he thrive in front of the Liverpool boss and suitably impress?
Yes, he could. Jurgen Klopp described him as ‘unplayable’ after the game, per the Metro. He really was, too, and he showcased all of the traits that make him such an exciting talent.
If Liverpool had any interest, Thursday only exacerbated it. The incredible pace, the power, the relentless consistency, and that end product make for a player any team would want.
Can Liverpool get a deal done? £70m is a lot of money and every performance like this only drives that price up. You’d have to say, though, that Traore looks a brilliant signing whatever the price.
