Ex-Red thinks Jack Grealish should reject Manchester United for Liverpool

Former Liverpool and Aston Villa midfielder Stan Collymore has encouraged Jack Grealish to move to Anfield. The 24-year-old Birmingham boy has been preforming well in the Premier League this season. In a struggling Villa side, he has shone and Collymore believes Grealish deserves a big move.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, he said. “I know I’m biased towards Jack Grealish but the stats don’t lie, and for him to become the first English midfielder to register 15 goals/assists since Frank Lampard in 2009/10, in an average to poor team, is a superb effort.

“His talent deserves a better platform, and if you were to stick him in that Liverpool midfield and let him service their magic front three, the kid could be one of Europe’s most effective midfielders and have an England team built around him. Forget Manchester United, he’ll be waiting five years to reach the level he could get to at Anfield.”

Collymore is right in saying the quickest route to the top is by joining Liverpool and not Manchester United in 2020. The gulf in class between the two sides was very apparent during this weekend 2-0 win at Anfield.

The 48-year-old is the second ex-player to endorse Grealish moving to Anfield this month. Match of the Day pundit Danny Murphy believes the youngster would be good fit at Liverpool and is better than some players in Jurgen Klopp’s midfield.

There is an obvious belief within the game that Grealish can shine on the biggest stage with Liverpool. However, we at RTK aren’t convinced he would make the cut on Merseyside.

Any transfer for the player will not happen this month, with Villa fighting a relegation battle. This is a good thing for the player and any club thinking about buying him.

Over the next few months he has the perfect platform to show just how good he is as a leader and a player. While teams such as United and maybe Liverpool can take a closer look at him before making any moves.
