This weekend was yet another statement of intent from Liverpool as they brushed aside old rivals Manchester United in a 2-0 win at Anfield. The second goal was scored in injury time by Mo Salah, Kopites have been loving the Alisson celebration that came with it.
Jürgen Klopp’s side went ahead early in the game on Sunday. Trent Alexander-Arnold bagged yet another assist as he found Virgil van Dijk’s head, the Dutchman climbing above all else to nod home at The Annie Road End.
From there on out it was another routine game for The Reds. The VAR did his best to level the contest as Roberto Firmino had a goal unfairly ruled out after Virgil vas adjudged to have illegally challenged David De Gea.
Gini Wijnaldum correctly had a goal ruled out after a good call from the linesman noticed he was just half an inch offside before slotting passing DDG.
The Reds squeezed any life out of the game and United squandered what few chances they had.
With just seconds remaining Alisson rocketed a ball to an unmarked Mo Salah, the Egyptian King kept his nerve to extend the lead to 2-0. The Alisson celebration mimicked Pepe Reina’s full length sprint of 2009 and Kopites were loving it.
Alisson actually became the first Liverpool keeper since Pepe Reina to bag an assist in the Premier League.

And that wasn’t the only parallel from the goal.

In fact the Brazilian straight up admitted that he had taken inspiration from the Spanish shot stopper.
NO WAY ALISSON ACTUALLY ADMITTED HE DID THE CELEBRATION BECAUSE HE SAW THE VIDEO OF REINA 😭😭😭😭

The goal means that Ali now has more assists than Jesse Lingard this year.
Good morning, Reds!
Just a reminder than Alisson has more Premier League assists since the start of 2020 than Jesse Lingard has in over a calendar year.
