There are young Reds dotted all over Europe. With Liverpool boasting some of the finest young talent in football, it is only sensible to send some of these players out on loan to make sure their growth doesn’t stagnate. Unfortunately, not all loan spells work out. According to Goal, Liverpool will recall Taiwo Awoniyi from Mainz and send him elsewhere for the second half of the season.
Liverpool sent the 22-year-old out on loan at the start of the season but he hasn’t been able to get the game time the club were hoping for.
Mainz are struggling in the Bundesliga, they currently sit in 14th place, just three points above the relegation play off place.
Awoniyi has only managed six appearances so far this season, with reported interest from other clubs in Europe there has been suggestions that he will be recalled and sent elsewhere.
According to Goal he could remain in Germany but there is also interest from Montpellier, Brest and Nimes, as well as Besiktas, Leganes and Real Mallorca.
What RTK has to say
It is a shame to see that Taiwo Awoniyi will have his loan spell cut short.
The youngster has been farmed out to all and sundry over the years and is yet to establish himself anywhere, it is highly unlikely that we will see him make an impact at Liverpool given that he is already 22-years-old.
The main concern now is making sure that the player finds the right place to take the next step in his career, it would be a shame to see his ability squandered.
Hopefully the Reds will be seeking assurances from any potential destinations and Awoniyi will finally be able to kick start his professional career.
