There are a few players in this world that Liverpool will be linked with until they secure a big money move: Kai Havertz, Jadon Sancho and Kylian Mbappe. This talented, youthful trio have been the talk of the European Football Town for seemingly eternity. The wonderkid saga has provided yet another instalment with Liverpool reportedly on the verge of making a £107m offer for Kai Havertz.
Havertz currently plays a centre midfielder for Bayer Leverkusen but often appears as an attacking midfielder or right winger for the Bundesliga side.
Now 20-years-old, the starlet has made 14 starts this season, scoring twice and assisting once this campaign.
Last season was a much more electric affair for the youngster – he bagged 17 goals and three assists in 33 games last time out.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Liverpool are preparing a £107m bid for Kai Havertz, hoping to beat off competition from the rest of Europe’s elite.
What RTK has to say
The Reds have been missing goals from midfield since the departure of Philippe Coutinho. Signing Kai Havertz would help fill this void.
If we manage to bag the German ahead of our rivals then it would be a real coup. Whilst Liverpool have avoided big money, marquee superstar signings in recent seasons, Havertz is just the right side of stardom.
With the midfielder only being 20-years-old, to buy him now would be to bag a potentially generational player before he is completely out of reach financially in a few years time.
This would be a massive statement of intent by the Reds and could be our “Nike signing” to launch our new kit deal. He is a Nike athlete so he definitely fits the bill.
