There has been an incredible turnaround in Liverpool’s fortunes in the last five years. The Reds have been transformed into an unstoppable winning machine under the guidance of Jürgen Klopp. Jamie Redknapp has praised the “culture” Jürgen Klopp has fostered at Liverpool.
When the German gaffer came in at Anfield the club were in a state of disarray. FSG had been stumping up the money but The Reds had fallen short in 2013/14 and slid further in 2014/15. It was time for change.
Brendan Rodgers was sacked, Jürgen Klopp was installed less than a week later.
There has been a top to bottom reshaping of the club since Klopp arrived. The squad was cleared out and fresh faces were brought in, transfer policy shifted drastically.
One of the most marked improvements under the boss has been the attitude and desire of the squad, the transformation of the team from also rans into winners.
Jamie Redknapp praised the attitude of the side, telling talkSPORT, “There is something so special about what Liverpool have created, and that’s not by accident. It’s a culture they’ve created by buying the right players. There are no egos there, everyone wants to chip in.”
What RTK has to say
Redknapp is spot on with his comments.
One of the reasons that this Liverpool side are so unbeatable is that they will do anything for each other, they’ll do anything for the team.
The system of football that Klopp plays demands this attitude. If you are going to be part of a pressing machine then you can’t have an ego – there’s no room for mavericks, the team need to work as one. It is this collective culture that has bred success and that will continue to breed success as long as Klopp is at the club.
