Manchester City have quietly put together a fine run of form.
The Blues have won nine of their last 10 games in all competitions. Despite this, the colossal 14-point at the top of the Premier League remains.
Liverpool fans should hope our rivals good form continues and here is why:

The Reds almost looked bored at times against Spurs this weekend. Jurgen Klopp’s side secured the 1-0 win but didn’t look their best and may have dropped points on a different day. With every other team so far behind us, perhaps complacency is beginning to creep in. If it has, it could end in disaster, and we will need to sort it out quickly.
Pep Guardiola’s men are still capable of winning every game from now until the end of the season. They moved back into second place with an emphatic 6-1 victory away at Aston Villa. It was a performance that said that they don’t think the title race is over yet and neither should we.
Ultimately this run of good form could backfire on City. Liverpool will likely react to this big result by stepping back on the gas. I would expect the Reds to raise their game over the coming weeks and months to shutdown any hope of a Manchester City revival. This rise in level will inevitably mean Liverpool collect more wins, points and claim the league quicker than we may have previously done.
Also, while City continue to think England’s top prize is still up for grabs it will take their attention away from other competitions. Call me greedy but I want to see the Reds lift more European silverware. Back-to-back Champions League wins are still on the cards for us. And making that happen will be much easier if the competition’s favourites City have more to think about than just the one trophy.
