Liverpool are miles ahead at the top of the Premier League. Jürgen’s Reds are seemingly unstoppable at the minute, they haven’t lost a game in the league since January 2019, this month becoming only the third side to go a full calendar year unbeaten. Destiny is on the horizon as the Reds look to be crowned top flight champions for the first time in 30 years. Graeme Souness has insisted that Liverpool have already won the Premier League.

The Reds lead at the top seems unassailable at the minute. Jürgen Klopp’s side are 13 points clear of Leicester City and 14 points clear of Manchester City, with a game in hand over both sides.

Given that Liverpool have only lost once in the last year, it would require a spectacular collapse for them to blow this mammoth lead.

Souness, five time league champion at Anfield, believes that it is already over. The Irish Examiner reported that the Scotsman said:

“They have won it already, I don’t think that anybody at Liverpool will be saying that but what could possibly go wrong? Other than half a dozen of their main men getting long-term injuries — and that’s not going to happen. And they deserve it. After last year missing out by just one point, the consistency between last year and this year has been phenomenal. They landed the Champions League and they are the team of the moment, they are the team that nobody wants to play.”

What RTK has to say

It seems as though the only ones not saying that it’s over are the ones destined to win it. Liverpool are incredibly far ahead but still Jürgen Klopp isn’t budging from his position of just taking each game as it comes.

If Jürgen’s Reds continue on with this mentality, not getting ahead of themselves, then the sky’s the limit. The Mentality Monsters haven’t let us down yet, they won’t be letting Souness down either.
