Liverpool break record for points after 21 games with Spurs win

The Reds are top of the league. The Reds are top of the league. As if it was ever in doubt, Liverpool ran out 1-0 winners against Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this weekend. Jürgen Klopp’s invincible side did what they do with yet another routine victory but this one had a touch added sweetness – Liverpool broke the record for points after 21 games.

Liverpool were cruising for a majority of the game. We strangle fixtures at the minute, Jürgen Klopp’s side get the ball and don’t let you have it – if you have it you won’t be getting far with it.

This has been the dance for a majority of the season, this win over Spurs bore a lot of similarities with the trouncing of Leicester City on Boxing Day, albeit the result was much less emphatic.

The decisive goal was scored by Roberto Firmino – the Brazilian fired into the far corner from close range after being set up by the nifty Mo Salah. It took a clever first touch and a smart finish but he did it, we did it.

Liverpool broke the record for points after 21 games with the win – notching 61 points so far this season. The previous record was owned by Manchester City – they managed 59 points after 21 games during the 2017/18 season.

What RTK has to say

We have broken this record and we will break more as the season goes on. The Reds are looking absolutely unstoppable at the minute, whether or not Manchester City’s total points record stands also remains to be seen.

As it stands we are on course to finish the season as unbeaten centurions, this truly is the greatest side the Premier League has ever seen.
