Last weekend saw The Reds absolutely humiliate their local rivals. Everton made the short trip to Anfield for an FA Cup third round tie only to lose 1-0 to what was essentially a Liverpool youth team. The loss has devastated Toffees fans, a surreal incident at the Everton training ground has highlighted how dominant Liverpool are now.
The FA Cup third round tie at Anfield saw a performance to make Kopites swoon. Jürgen Klopp raised eyebrows with his team selection, there was little experience in the lineup – most of it departed in the 9th minute when James Milner limped off, replaced by Yasser Larouci.
Despite the fact that The Ev put out their strongest side and The Reds put out one of their youngest, the hosts ran out victorious thanks to a spectacular curling effort by Curtis Jones.
The Toffees were far from pleased with the result. Blue Noses the world over have chastised their team for their perceived lack of effort, a lot of the vitriol born out of the sheer embarrassment at getting beaten by The Reds’ kids.
It appears things have escalated, Paul Joyce has reported that a group of angry Everton fans showed up at the club’s Finch Farm training ground with the intention of confronting the players over the result. Sporting director Marcel Brands held a meeting with the disgruntled fans to talk through their concerns.

It’s understandable why the Blue Noses are upset, it was their best shot at winning at Anfield in decades – we put out a team of infants. The problem for Everton is that these were Jürgen’s Infants, the determination and winning mentality that Klopp has brought to the club shone through the youngsters. This incident at Finch Farm is further evidence of just how massive Jürgen has made us again.
