The Reds were at it again tonight. Liverpool made history by becoming only the third side to go a calendar year unbeaten as they cruised to victory over Chris Wilder’s side. Here are our Liverpool player ratings v Sheffield United:

Goalkeeper: Alisson Becker – 8
The Brazilian didn’t have much to do at all but once again his distribution had us countering quickly.
Right back: Trent Alexander-Arnold – 7.5
Trent Alexander-Arnold was up to his usual, whipping in pin point crosses and lofting killer balls.
Centre back: Joe Gomez – 8
JoGo gets better every game. He will undoubtedly be one of the best defenders in the world one day.
Centre back: Virgil van Dijk – 8
The Dutchman was solid as ever at the back, near the end of the first half we saw him at his best when he stopped a certain goal with a slide tackle near the centre circle.
Left back: Andy Robertson – 8
Another game, another tireless performance, another assist. A unique player.
Defensive midfield: Jordan Henderson – 7
The skipper conducted the orchestra as usual.
Centre midfield: James Milner – 6.5
Having stepped into the lineup at the last minute, this was a thoroughly professional performance from Milly.
Centre midfield: Gini Wijnaldum – 8
The midfielder simply cannot be tackled, it’s a phenomenal trait to have. He was absolutely everywhere, refusing to lose a 50/50.
Right wing: Mo Salah – 8.5
Mo could have had a hattrick had it not been for Dean Henderson, he took his goal well and bagged a remarkable second half assist.
Striker: Roberto Firmino – 6.5
Bobby was just a smidgen off tonight, he often picked the wrong pass or overhit his ball.
Left wing: Sadio Mane – 8.5
The Senegalese forward is crazy fast, the United defence barely got near him and his goal was well deserved.
