The Reds are miles ahead. We have never been this far ahead at this stage of the season. Jürgen Klopp has a 13 point lead over Leicester City with a game in hand, as well as a 14 point lead over Manchester City with a game in hand. With the gap between the sides insurmountable, a decision by Pep Guardiola could completely concede the Premier League title to Liverpool.

Of course, the gap already seems like too much ground for the champions to make up. We’ve been here before – we’ve done this dance. Kopites won’t say we’ve won it until it is mathematically impossible to be caught. City made up a 10 point difference last campaign – they could (in theory) pull off a similar upset again.
However, last season showed that the City management aren’t shy of prioritising competitions. With the gap so big in the Premier League, we may see Pep Guardiola give Liverpool the title by choosing to focus on the Champions League.
Pep is desperate to win the Champions League at City, it’s the one trophy that has eluded him during his time at the Etihad. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see him resting key stars at the weekend in order to keep them fit for midweek European games.
Guardiola would effectively be handing Liverpool the title if he chose to drop his key players – the Blues have already lost five times this season, choosing to focus on Europe would likely lead to more defeats in the league.
