The January transfer window is mere days away. The Reds have already announced one arrival in the New Year, with Michael Edwards having negotiated the bargain buy of Takumi Minamino. According to The Express, Liverpool have stepped up their interest in Victor Osimhen of Lille.

The Nigerian striker has been in hot form for the French Ligue 1 side this season, notching 10 goals and 3 assists in 16 league starts.
Osimhen arrived at Lille over the summer, the forward was signed from Charleroi for €12m in August. In just a few months he has already caught the eye of clubs around Europe, including Liverpool and Chelsea.
According to The Express, Liverpool are set to step up in their interest in Victor Osimhen – the paper asserting that Jürgen Klopp may even be looking at a January deal for the striker.
The report also states that the striker will move as Lille have resigned themselves to losing the 21-year-old in the near future but they’ll be hoping to keep ahold of him until the summer.
What RTK has to say
If Liverpool sign Victor Osimhen in January it would be a massive statement by the Reds. We have already tied up a deal for Takumi Minamino, to bring in another attacking player in the same window would be a big step towards succeeding on all fronts.
There is obviously the contention of the fee. Football365 believe that the French side would want a fee of around €70m for the striker. With Liverpool having not spent big without selling big in recent seasons, us splashing this sort of cash seems unlikely.
He fits the profile age wise, price wise maybe not so much. Another striker would be crucial to our strength in depth, although we appear to be doing well as is – key injuries can quickly derail momentum.
