Liverpool travel to the King Power Stadium on Boxing Day for a top of the table clash against Leicester City.

The Reds could move 13 points clear of the Foxes with win number 17 of the season.

Brendan Rodgers’ side have been in fine form since he took the helm earlier this year. However, Liverpool are facing Leicester at the perfect time and here’s why.

The former Liverpool manager’s side have experienced a slight dip in form during their last few games. Last time out they lost to Manchester City, allowing Pep Guardiola’s side to close the gap. Before that they drew against Everton in the Carabao Cup, although they ultimately advanced via a penalty shootout win. That game followed an unexpected draw against relegation favourites Norwich City.

Leicester have failed to win in three games. This may well be an early sign that they are struggling to keep up with the pace they have set. Liverpool can draw encouragement from this as we show no signs of slowing down despite such a busy schedule.

The Reds are currently having a few days of well-earned rest, which have been few and far between this season.

On the back of an historic Club World Cup win, Jurgen Klopp’s side are on top of the world. Unbeaten in the league all season, we have dropped just two points. The Foxes have dropped more than double that amount in their last two Premier League games. They will be aware of that though and will want to make sure this dip in form doesn’t become anything more than that against Liverpool.

So, whatever Leicester side show up, the Reds must be at their best to ensure no unnecessary slip-ups.
