Libpool, top ‘ the world, Libpool, Libpool, top ‘ the world. Despite Libpool being top of the world we are still stretched incredibly thin in key areas of the squad. A long term injury in any one of a few certain positions could be devastating for the squad. Emile Heskey has said that Liverpool need to strengthen in two areas, he’s just wrong about which two.

The Reds are currently 10 points clear of Leicester City in second place. Jürgen Klopp is set to take on the Foxes on Boxing Day, he also has a game in hand on Brendan Rodgers, meaning that Liverpool could go 16 points clear of Leicester should they win both games.

With Anfield looking set for its first top flight title in 30 years, it is hard to pick out areas that need improvement, though some do need reinforcements. Emile Heskey told the Liverpool ECHO:

“I think they’re pretty set for the rest of the season but I think they might need another striker and also a dynamic winger. If they were to lose Salah or Mane, they don’t really have that dynamic winger like they’re used to.”

What RTK has to say

Whilst Emile Heskey is right about us needing to add depth, he’s wrong about where. At the minute it would be much more important to reinforce our full back positions.

We have seen in the last six weeks just how important Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold are to our attacking play. The duo change the game when they are on the pitch.

When we have started without our first choice wing backs we have looked toothless at times. It is vital that we add a backup or rotation to each side of defence. The boss showed against Everton and Bournemouth that we can chop and change our front three, we saw against Napoli that we cannot do the same with our full backs.
