There are a million and one youngsters linked with Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool at the moment. With the Reds one of the most attractive destinations for any footballer at the moment, we can expect some arrivals in the next two windows. Liverpool have been given a boost in their reported pursuit of Ricky-Jade Jones by yet another tweet from the player’s chairman.
Jones is highly thought of by many clubs in England, the 17-year-old striker has been having a breakthrough season at Peterborough, making four appearances for the Posh in League One.
He has pace to burn and is a lethal finisher when the opportunity presents itself. Back in November the Daily Mail reported that the Reds are one of a host of clubs chasing the starlet.
When the rumours first emerged the Peterborough United chairman commented that he wants the player to end up at Anfield at some point.
Darragh MacAnthony has added further fuel to the fire by admitting that the player will leave the club in the future, the chairman is convinced that the striker will play at the top level. MacAnthony even went as far as to say he will be sold to a “top 6 club”.
What RTK has to say
If Liverpool were to sign Ricky-Jade Jones we could be stealing a march on our rivals. The lad is highly thought of throughout the EFL and is being tipped by those around him to have a bright career.
He could be the perfect signing for our youth team given that there is a space to fill following the departure of Bobby Duncan to Fiorentina.
Thankfully for us, Jones’ chairman would like to see the youngster at Anfield in the future – when it comes to the inevitable bidding war, this preference could be invaluable to us.
