It has been a whirlwind week to be a Liverpool fan. The Reds have announced a flurry of deals in the last seven days, James Milner and Jürgen Klopp signed new contracts and Takumi Minamino is set for a medical at the club. According to Football Insider, Gini Wijnaldum will be the latest new contract at Liverpool.
Liverpool signed Gini from Newcastle in 2016, paying the Magpies £25m for the Dutchman. He was a goal scoring attacking midfielder at a relegated side when we signed him, he is now a box to box, Ballon d’Or shortlisted terrier.
There are few bigger transformations in the last three years than that of Gini Wijnaldum, the way he has adapted his game to suit Jürgen Klopp’s needs has been mesmerising.
According to Football Insider the club are working hard to tie down Gini Wijnaldum to a lucrative new contract that will reward his magnificent form in recent years.
What RTK has to say
This just gets better and better. We are incredibly lucky to have Gini Wijnaldum at the club. He has done everything we’ve asked since his arrival; he’s scored important goals and he’s even played as a centre back when needed.
Going into the next phase of Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool tenure, it is vital that we keep the tenacity and versatility of Gini Wijnaldum around.
The Dutchman has aged like a fine wine, he is just 29-years-old and is only getting better, the longer we can ahold of him and the longer we can keep him happy, the better.
