Tuesday night was a remarkable night of football. The Reds – well some of them – travelled to Birmingham to face Aston Villa in the league cup. With the first team away in Qatar for the Club World Cup, it was up to the kids to take up the League Cup mantle. Liverpool fans have been drooling over the performance Harvey Elliot gave against Aston Villa.
The Liverpool XI were thoroughly beaten but the scoreline was harsh on the young lads. Although the game finished 5-0 to the hosts, it was by no means a 5-0 game.
The Reds’ youth were impressive in possession for the most part – however, with an average age of just 19 – the Villains were able to capitalise on the front foot.
Regardless of the result, there is no doubting that the young lads gave a thoroughly good account of themselves. Kopites have taken to Twitter to praise the Harvey Elliott display against Aston Villa.
The statistical breakdown for the 16-year-old was incredibly impressive.
As we’ve had a few requests..
Harvey Elliott vs. Aston Villa

5 Chances created

This Kopite was asking why we would ever bother with signing Jadon Sancho when we have Elliott.
Realistically, no bait, why spend 90m on sancho when we have Harvey Elliott 😳

He is definitely one for the future, we may not even see his peak for another decade.

I mean, he is definitely going over the top – this Kopite joked that the 16-year-old is better than the magnificent Lionel Messi.
Don’t want on go over the top about the young man but Harvey Elliott is definitely better than Messi.
