With the January transfer window fast approaching, transfer rumours are fast gathering. The Reds saved their money over the summer – opting not to make any major additions despite posting record profits and winning the Champions League. The press have been at it again with the gossip, reports have now linked Liverpool with a move for Sebastiano Esposito.
Esposito is a 17-year-old striker at Inter Milan. The Italian forward is highly thought of in the game; those of you that play Football Manager will be well aware of his potential. At such a young age he has already made three substitute appearances in both Serie A and the Champions League.
FCInterNews have reported that the club have received “very rich offers” for the striker, with Liverpool one of the sides rumoured to have been after Esposito with “great insistence”. PSG, Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City have also been named among the chasing pack.
What RTK has to say
This is just going to go on and on and on. Until the Reds make a major signing, we will carry on being linked with any talent worth a few quid.
There is quite a buzz about this young Italian lad, it would be great for the Reds if we did bag him – there is definitely space following Bobby Duncan’s move to Fiorentina.
This move isn’t entirely out of the question, if Liverpool were to sign Sebastian Esposito then it would be in line with current policy. We have been operating in the market as if we are implementing a pre-emptive Galacticos Project. Back at the start of the century Real Madrid went about signing superstars – we’re buying them before they become superstars.
