It was a quiet transfer window for Liverpool over the summer. The Reds only brought in two backup keepers in Andy Lonergan and Adrian and two youth prospects in Harvey Elliott and Sepp van den Berg. According to a report by Football Insider, Liverpool are set to offer Sepp van den Berg a new contract with the club less than six months after he joined.
Liverpool signed Sepp van den Berg in July for a reported £1.3m. The Dutchman was being pursued by some of Europe’s top clubs due to his record breaking rise to prominence in the Netherlands Eredivisie.
The centre back made the league’s team of the week aged just 16 and broke Clarence Seedorf’s record for the youngest player to make 10 appearances in the division.
Football Insider has reported that the club are set to offer the youngster an improved, long term deal as a reward for his progress since joining the club over the summer.

If Liverpool are set to offer Sepp van den Berg a new and improved contract then that is fantastic news for Kopites.
The youngster is set for a bright future. He is highly thought of at Melwood and throughout Europe. For the player to be impressing enough to warrant a new contract is a terrific sign.
Although he played the full 90 minutes when the Reds conceded five in the League Cup against Arsenal, we can’t say that he had a particularly poor game, we must also consider that he was facing a very strong Gooners XI.
Fingers crossed that the rumours are true and we are pinning the prodigy down to a long term contract as it can only be a positive sign for the future.
