Borussia Dortmund are ‘determined’ to keep Jadon Sancho this January, according to reports. That might suit Liverpool better, however.

The Telegraph say that Dortmund don’t see the value in selling Sancho midseason. So any team with interest – be it Manchester United or Liverpool (per the Telegraph) – will have to wait until the summer.

The outlet believe that Dortmund want at least £100m for Sancho, a huge amount of money for January. In fact, only once has a winter fee surpassed that  – Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona, and we know how that went.

What RTK has to say

Honestly, this probably suits Liverpool.

Fans are understandably excited at the prospect of a big January signing – especially after a summer without any senior arrivals. But with the squad as settled as it is, it may be better to see out the season first.

Liverpool are playing incredibly well and a big signing has the potential to upset that. For one thing, how do you get Sancho into the side in January? Does he take Mohamed Salah’s place? Do you move Salah?

It’s a tricky one and as Liverpool don’t need anyone right now, waiting makes more sense.

And the fact that Dortmund want to wait as well means there’s no rush. The likes of United making an early move and forcing Liverpool’s hand is likely if it were just the Reds wanting to wait.

Instead, they have time to consider things. We felt that Liverpool should think about holding off, anyway – in part, because of Sancho’s disciplinary issues – so this should work out nicely.

The summer, however, is a different story.
